         <description><![CDATA[A school-record 143 Western Carolina student-athletes were named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll for the 2007-08 academic year, as announced by the conference office. WCU also possessed four student-athletes who posted a 4.0 grade point average for the entire school year. The Catamount men's and women's track & field teams combined for a school-leading 27 student-athletes on the list, with 14 from the men's team and the women contributing 13 of the student-athletes. Women's soccer put 21 of its 29 total team members on the Honor Roll, or 72 percent of the team. That percentage was second only to the women's basketball team, who put every one of their 12 players on the Honor Roll list, the only team to have 100 percent included.]]></description>

WCU will look to senior Zeb Johnson to try and extend their stay in Des Moines on Thursday, when he will begin his quest for an individual national title in the men's 200-meter dash.
